SERVING OUR LORD & SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST
The Rural Gospel Initiative (RGI) was formed by South Dakota Circuit 1 Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) pastors and laity.
Preserve the Gospel
FOR FUTURE
GENERATIONS
The Rural Gospel Initiative (RGI) recognizes the eternal importance of a faithful, long-term commitment to share the Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
The vision of the RGI is to support Word and Sacrament ministry now and for many generations to come in Circuit 1 congregations of the South Dakota District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

ABOUT THE RGI
The Rural Gospel Initiative, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is the first of its kind within the Synod with its local mission focus. The RGI has achieved designation as a Recognized Service Organization (RSO) from the LCMS. This important designation allows the RGI endowment to invest funds with the LCMS Foundation.
The RGI is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of a representative from each member Circuit 1 congregation. The work of the RGI is under the sole direction of the Board, ensuring a local voice and faithful commitment to the RGI’s goals. The RGI board has a non-voting pastoral advisor.
Help Us Achieve Our Goals by Donating to the RGI
GIFTING TO THE RGI
Financial Contributions
The RGI is supported by financial gifts from people, churches, and entities who share in its commitment. Donations to the RGI, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, are tax deductible. Donations of any amount are welcome.
Contributions will be carefully managed by the RGI Board and LCMS Foundation ensuring adherence to LCMS Biblical Stewardship Principles. Unique to the RGI, return on investment will be used locally, here in South Dakota Circuit One. The principal remains untouched, so donors can be confident their gifts will continue to support Word and Sacrament ministry for many generations.
It is important that gifting to the RGI not interfere with a member's congregational giving or tithing.
Other Ways to Give
- Consider including the RGI in your estate planning
- A Qualified Charitable Contribution from a traditional or Roth IRA for those approaching 70 ½
- Thrivent Choice Dollars
- Special giving occasions like a baptism, birthday, or in memory of someone special
